01What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser to remember information between visits. Similar technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB — are covered by this notice too.
02Categories we use
We use only strictly necessary and functional storage. We run no analytics product. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Strictly necessary — keep the site secure and functional. No consent required.
- Functional — remember preferences (e.g. locale). We treat these as opt-in via the locale switcher itself.
03Detailed list
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| lens.locale (localStorage) | Remembers the region and language you chose, so the site shows that edition again on your next visit without changing the address. Stored in your browser only; never sent to a server. | Until cleared | Functional |
| lens.geo (localStorage) | Caches your approximate location (IP address, city, region, country) so the site does not re-query it on every page. | 24 hours | Functional |
| lens_home_intro_seen (sessionStorage) | Skip the homepage intro after it has played in the current tab. | Session | Functional |
| lens.geo.noticed (sessionStorage) | Records that you have already seen the notice explaining the site switched to your regional edition, so it is not shown again in this tab. | Session | Functional |
04How to refuse
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings — most browsers expose this under Privacy & Security. Doing so will reset preferences (e.g. region) but will not break the site.
05Changes
If we add a new cookie we update this list within 5 working days and bump the effective date.
